Well, she actually could be the Minister of Everything because she probably knows more than the Ministers. That's where [Jenny] Shipley's totally lost. She's a sloganeer. She has five slogans, five lines. Helen has that amazing depth of knowledge, that amazing memory. Edwards has previously worked with Clark on her presentation, although he considers himself a media coach rather than a spinner.

Helen Clark defends her personal life
Prime Minister Helen Clark defended her personal life in parliament in the wake of a Labour colleague's controversial remarks about government figures. The Labour Party has told former minister John Tamihere to take a week off after he gave a magazine interview delivering a series of insults about cabinet members, women, homosexuals, fellow Maori and unions. Asked about a Tamihere quote that the prime minister had been "brutalised" by people who called her a lesbian and was surrounded by "butch" supporters, Clark accused the opposition questioner of homophobia. She also rejected a Tamihere quote that implied she and others in the government were out of touch with families because they did not have children. Clark sacked Tamihere from the cabinet last year over fraud allegations involving a Maori trust he once ran but did not reinstate him when he was exonerated this year.
