Selecting Your Rolling Barn Door Style Whether your style tends toward rustic charm or the sleek and contemporary, our smooth-operating rolling door hardware can add a beautiful and functional design element to your interior. Turn a ho-hum pantry door into a visual accent, give your family room a welcoming entrance that evokes the earthy elegance of old-time carriage houses or artfully conceal a wall-mounted flat-screen TV when you’re not viewing. The hardware is both timeless and trendy – and as versatile as you can imagine. With substantive steel roller straps, whisper-quiet rollers and impeccable machining, these kits offer the highest quality in both form and function. Choose from six styles and two finishes, ranging from the rich texture of the hand-hammered black Spade kit to the urbane sophistication of the stainless steel kits. All include a rail – 6′ for the black kits, 6-1/2′ for the stainless – and all the hardware needed to hang a typical interior door, including screws. Splicer kits are available if you need to accommodate a larger door. Besides offering great style and performance, the rolling door hardware also is more convenient and less messy to install than a traditional pocket door and works well anywhere you don’t have room for or want a conventional swing-out door. It’s important to note that these kits are for interior use only on solid wood doors up to 250 lbs. (The stainless steel kits also work with glass doors.) And, for safety, the rail brackets must be anchored to solid wood – wall studs, wood blocking or wood well-secured to the face of the wall. Check out your options below and be inspired to make the old new again!

Author Notes: Man oh man do I ever have a treat for you today! Do you follow Nikki Grandy on Instagram yet?   If you do, you know she pretty much has redefined the sliding door console.   My personal favorite is her reclaimed wood version with herringbone pattern doors.   How stunningly gorgeous is this piece?     But Nikki and her husband have also made many different variations.   Not just in color and material,      But in size and use too.     I love this buffet cabinet so much.  So much.   I’ve been stalking Nikki on Instagram for a while now, always amazed at everything she does.  Her feed is full of inspiration and style, loaded with totally DIY-able and achieveable pieces and projects.  I like just about everything she posts!   Of course, I’ve been liking all of her consoles, and commented that I’d love to do plans for one at some point, so some of us that live to far to purchase one off of her could possibly make our own.   Nikki wrote me back and said she’d love to collaborate!!!         Yep, she’s letting me share plans with you!!!   The plans for this amazing console follow, but one thing first – hop over to Instagram and follow nikki_grandy right now!   Have an awesome Wednesday! Ana   PS – Sliding door hardware has come down alot in price!   $50 for 8 foot long sliding door hardware from Amazon – and it has five star reviews!

Jippy replied on Sun, 2015-11-08 11:12 Permalink Thanks bhoppy but that Thanks bhoppy but that hardware is far too big for this console. I think that’s everyone’s frustration is you cannot find barn hardware that small, you have to make it. Log in or register to post comments

Thanks for the help! I ended up ripping the quarter ench off of the 1×4’s with my table saw, and it turned out great.  For both shelves, I also used two 1×10’s (instead of the 1×10 and 1×8 the plan calls for) and then ripped one board down to 7 3/4″.  This gives a perfectly 17″ shelf, which means there is no “gap” as discussed in the plans.  Its turning out great so far! just need to figure out how to do the barn door style hardware!

I absolutely love this! Especially since I think this will be the only way I will ever get a barn door in my house.

After I cut the side, top and bottom pieces for the cabinet frame, I drilled 3/4″ pocket holes, into the 1×6 top braces, with my K5 Kreg Jig. ***I used left over scrap 3/4″ plywood for the side pieces and shelves. If you have enough, this is a great way to save money!*** Watch our How to Use a Kreg Jig vide HERE!

Next, I built the face frame for the cabinet with 3/4″ pocket holes, wood glue and 1 1/4″ pocket hole screws. Refer to the plans and measure and cut, as you go, for the best spacing and fit.
